In short
- The OS update itself brings only stability. The new functions sit in the bundled UniFi Network 10.4.57 app, which has existed on its own since 9 June 2026.
- For fincas on a mobile or point-to-point WAN, the new 4G/5G telemetry is the real gain, not the OS version number.

Why the version number says less than you'd think
A Dream Machine runs two layers stacked on top of each other. Below sits the operating system, here UniFi OS 5.1.27. On top run the actual applications, first among them the network app, UniFi Network. The update that just landed affects the lower layer.
And that is where it gets thin. The release notes for 5.1.27 name a single substantive point: improved device stability. No new function, no bugfix list in the OS section. Its predecessor 5.1.26 still offered more here, including improved WAN failover and lower memory use for IPS/IDS. So 5.1.27 is a small tightening update on that base.
The reason the package is still worth a look lies elsewhere: it bundles the UniFi Network 10.4.57 app. And that carries the functions customers expect from the update.

One misunderstanding costs real time here: "5.1.27" and "10.4.57" are two different things. Anyone searching the OS update for a new routing view won't find it — it sits in the app.
What the bundled network app really brings
An important point first: Network 10.4.57 is not new. Ubiquiti already released this app version separately on 9 June 2026. OS 5.1.27 now pulls it into the bundled package. Anyone who already updated the app by hand knows the functions well.
The tangible additions in the 10.4 line:
- Central routing view. Static, OSPF, BGP, Connected and Policy-Based routes in one interface, plus a unified table with destination, next-hop, interface, metric and source. Native eBGP is new. This requires UniFi OS 5.1.8 or later.
- More visibility in the dashboard. Wi-Fi airtime and multicast graphs, plus a WAN side panel showing SLA, latency, packet loss and load.
- 4G/5G telemetry. Band usage, radio health and signal monitoring for mobile uplinks, plus extended ISP diagnostics.
- Time Machine for the topology. A timestamped historical view of the interconnections, useful for troubleshooting.
- Blueprint sync across multiple sites. Configure one site once and push the settings — DNS policies, VLANs, security rules — to many others.
On top of that come around 26 bugfixes, among them corrected email notifications for view-only admins and a repaired SD-WAN sync.
Who on the island genuinely benefits
Two points stand out for our customers.
The first is mobile telemetry. Many fincas in rural areas, in the Serra de Tramuntana or the Es Pla, hang not on fibre but on a 5G or point-to-point WAN, because a wired connection simply isn't there. That is experience from our own projects, not a statistic. For exactly these sites the new 4G/5G monitoring is more than cosmetic: it shows when the signal drops before the customer calls because the video meeting stutters.
The second is Blueprint sync for customers with several properties — villa, guest house and company office under one hand. Instead of maintaining each site separately on location, one configuration is set centrally and distributed. Across three sites that saves not only trips, it prevents the drift that builds up when every site accumulates its own manual tweaks over the years.

The prerequisites the functions quietly fail without
This is where the most common mistake happens. The advertised additions only appear when the accompanying firmware matches.
The Wi-Fi airtime and 5G functions need firmware U5G 7.4.1 or later on the mobile device. The routing interface requires UniFi OS 5.1.8 or later. If one of these prerequisites is missing, the new function runs into nothing — the interface won't even show it, and the customer wonders what they updated for.
Whether the right accompanying firmware is already in place on an existing installation cannot be said in general. That is checked per site. Questions exactly like this we collect in our frequently asked questions.
Why we don't install on release day
Ubiquiti ships 5.1.27 in stages. The notes state plainly that the update "may not be visible to all users immediately," with full availability arriving "in a few days." That is the vendor's intended approach. Forcing it by hand at once means working against it.
Then there are user reports from the comments on 5.1.27: a slow start on the UDM Pro and CPU spikes after the upgrade. These are individual reports, not a confirmed vendor fault — and CPU load on a UDM Pro often comes from Protect, DPI or enabled firewall logging, not from the update. Even so: verify, don't ignore.
The most important reason to wait is mundane. If the same console runs Protect (cameras) or Access (entry control) alongside the network, a reboot means those services go down while the device restarts. That belongs in a maintenance window, not in prime time. What that means in a real case, our references show.
Check before updating to 5.1.27
- Does the console run Protect or Access alongside Network? Then pick a maintenance window.
- Has the full rollout been reached, or is the update still being distributed in stages?
- Is U5G firmware 7.4.1 or later on the mobile devices, so the 5G functions appear?
- Is UniFi OS at least on 5.1.8, so the central routing view works?
- Is there a rollback plan in case CPU load or a slow start appear after the upgrade?
